It's such a treasured tradition it's...legendary: Going to a White Spot restaurant and getting a Pirate Pak. While this is usually reserved for the 10-and-under crew, for one glorious day each year, the Vancouver-based family restaurant chain offers the beloved meal combo to adults as part of a popular fundraiser.
Taking place on Wednesday, August 14 this year, on grownups can also enjoy the combo platter served in a cute cardboard boat, and it’s all for a terrific cause. That’s because for every Pirate Pak sold that day, White Spot will make a $2 donation to the Zajac Ranch for Children, a B.C.-based charity dedicated to providing children and young adults with serious illnesses and chronic disabilities an unforgettable summer camp experience.
Pirate Pak Day is in its 12th year, and so far, White Spot has raised more than $1,000,000 for Zajac Ranch from various initiatives. They've sent hundreds of youth to camp each year to enjoy a multitude of thrilling and engaging activities, all made fully accessible. These experiences empower them to overcome barriers, build resiliency, and simply enjoy being kids.
The Pirate Pak has been around for decades, delighting young White Spot diners since its inception in 1968, when founder Nat Bailey wanted “to provide a unique dining experience for children aged 10 and under,” .
