New ramen bar opens, beef noodle joint closes in Richmond

Hibiki Ramen Yakitori Bar is the latest addition to the food scene near Richmond's Walmart, while a restaurant in Lansdowne Centre is being turned into a financial institute.

Another new restaurant has opened in Richmond city centre, just as the community bids goodbye to a familiar face.

Hibiki Ramen Yakitori Bar

The latest addition to the restaurant selection near Walmart is Hibiki Ramen Yakitori Bar, which opened its doors on Monday for a soft opening.

Located in the Central at Garden City plaza at #1460-4771 Mcclelland Road, the restaurant offers ramen in its signature chicken and pork broth, as well as miso ramen. True to its name, it also offers a wide variety of yakitori, including chicken, beef, pork and premium options such as tiger prawns and lamb chops.

Hibiki also offers kushiage, a popular deep-fried street food from Osaka, as well as karaage from Richmond-based Karaage King and desserts such as panna cotta and ice cream.

Last month, .

Hibiki Ramen Yakitori Bar is open for lunch and dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and yakitori is available from 5 p.m. daily.

Bull King BBQ

Meanwhile, a Chinese beef noodle and BBQ restaurant has shuttered just a couple blocks away from Walmart at Lansdowne Centre.

Bull King BBQ opened four years ago in 2019, boasting authentic Chinese Lanzhou-style beef noodles made on-site with a variety of noodle options, as well as Chinese-style skewers.

When the Richmond News spotted the restaurant on Wednesday, the sign had been removed from its location by the mall entrance near ICBC and the windows had been covered up.

According to records from the City of Richmond, a building permit was issued on Nov. 21 to transform the unit into a financial institute with a construction value of $100,000.
