The 104-room Art Deco-style luxury boutique hotel, located at 833 W Pender St, has a key family link to the Vancouver-based hotelier Executive Hotels and Resorts, whose first property opened in Richmond in 1986 and has since grown to operate multiple stays across North America.

Executive's co-founder, Farida Sayani, has teamed up with her daughter, Sofia, for the independent venture Azur.

"Spanning 13 elegant floors, the property’s lavishly appointed guest rooms, penthouse suites, and elevated dining options offer locals and visitors alike a true respite from the hustle and bustle of the downtown core," describes a media release about the new boutique hotel.

The hotel was approved in 2018 as a redevelopment for the longstanding Edward Chapman clothing retailer's Pender Street location. Executive Hotels for the site of the 45-year-old store.

Guests will experience Azur's brass front door, grand marble lobby entrance, and floor-to-ceiling windows and in the rooms will find design elements such as marble bathrooms, heated floors, and soaker tubs. Two penthouse-level suites will boast gas fireplaces, and private patios with sweeping Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»views.

Two new restaurants and a bar joining Vancouver's culinary scene

Azur will feature two restaurants, including one in a garden-like setting on the rooftop with an adjacent bar.

Lobby-level Dahlia Restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a contemporary menu featuring global influences using ingredients sourced from British Columbia.

The Lavantine Rooftop Restaurant will be "Vancouver’s first and only custom-designed, garden-like rooftop restaurant," according to PR reps for the hotel operation.
