What are the greatest three words in the English language?
For some (maybe me), it’s “all-day breakfast.” String those words together for any foodie and you’ll see a smile on my … er … their faces.
The Amazing Brentwood is about to put some smiles on the faces of Burnaby diners when a new all-day breakfast spot opens.
And it’s not just any all-day breakfast – it’s OEB.
OEB stands for “Over Easy Breakfast” and it’s a Calgary-based concept that opened a restaurant in Vancouver’s tres shi-shi Yaletown neighbourhood. OEB also has locations in Edmonton and Scottsdale, Arizona.
The menu has "some seriously over-the-top creations, too, including their signature ‘Soul in a Bowl."
In a previous V.I.A article, by the great food writer Lindsay William-Ross: “On the menu are modern takes on classic dishes, made using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Look for items like the Waterfowl Benny (smoked Peking duck breast on a butter croissant); a Bacon & Buttermilk Waffle with salted caramel, powdered sugar and Quebec maple syrup; Hog & Scallops Signature Breakfast Poutine; Eggs, Lox & Caviar; and Sweet Dreams Are Made of This (New York Style Cheese Cake served between two pieces of french toast). For the purists, OEB also has more traditional breakfast dishes, too.”
I’m not really what you would call a purist when it comes to breakfast. If I never eat another tired plate of hash browns, I’ll die a happy foodie.
So I’m really looking forward to OEB’s wild creations. Burnaby needs someone to take breakfast to another level and this appears to be the place to do it.
There’s no definitive date for OEB, just that it’s “hatching soon.” Also: Check out the OEB video below.
