Online Asian fusion pastry shop opening Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­cafe and bakeshop

A local independent custom cake bakery that's been going strong for nearly two years online is making the leap to a brick-and-mortar storefront.  is prepping a pastry cafe in Vancouver, near the Burnaby border, with plans to open this spring.

Moving in at 3615 Kingsway, Minus Cake Boutique is setting up a their "premium asian fusion pastry and beverage store," and growing their offerings from their custom cakes and cake rolls, and more to include more specialty pastries and cafe drinks.

Minus Cake Boutique is the venture of Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts grad Sweki Chen. The pastry chef, who has been in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­since 2009, has worked at places like the recently-closed West, Thierry, and Glowbal's Coast. Chen was also the creative designer at Vancouver's acclaimed . 

Combining traditional French pastry technique with Asian flavours and ingredients, Chen's Minus Cake Boutique is known for their whimsical and elaborately-decorated cakes for all occasions. 

Currently in the hiring process, Minus Cake Boutique's forthcoming Kingsway pastry shop is aiming to open in April.
