Much like how it takes some time for just-rolled croissant dough to expand to its flakiest, butteriest full potential, so has Metro Vancouver's annual grown.
Launched in 2022 by a local who wanted to share her love of the beloved French pastry, this year's event runs from November 1 to 21 and has grown to feature over 30 vendors across multiple Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»municipalities. (For reference, in its first year, the Croissant Crawl had nine vendors and ran for one week.)
The crawl is a self-guided event and there are no tickets or fees to participate, but you will, of course, have to pay for your croissants. In some cases, the croissants are only available for pre-order and some may be available for just a portion of the event's full three weeks.
There are 56 croissants (and croissant-adjacent treats, like "croffles" or "cruffins") in an array of inventive flavours. There are croissants inspired by savoury classics like banh mi, garlic bread, Korean fried chicken, or everything bagels. For those in search of all things sweet, look for flavours like pistachio, apple, white peach, or passion fruit - just to name a few.
You can get croissant cubes, croissant tarts or pies, and there are also a few plant-based croissants to try. There's even a gluten-free croissant available at two spots in the Tri-Cities.
Once you try some croissants, you can vote for your favourite. Plus, this year, Consul General of France in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Nicolas Baudouin will present the "Most Creative Croissant" award to one vendor for their outstanding creative interpretation of the iconic and beloved French pastry.

- Dolce Tofu Brûlée Croissant Pie: This silky honey-infused tofu crème brûlée is encircled by a rich chocolate-cardamom crust. Crowned with a cloud of rose-infused whipped cream and sprinkled with fragrant rose petals, it delivers a refined and elegant finish, both visually and in taste. (November 12 - 21)
