The Inlet District Lavender Tea donut was a hit.
Made with blue matcha and lavender — and drizzled with a vanilla glaze — the creation was “inspired” by the new master-planned community about to strike northeast of the Inlet SkyTrain station in Port Moody.
Last fall, Sweet Talk Donuts joined forces with the developers, Wesgroup Properties, and stirred up the sensation, with more than 1,500 of the treats flying off the shelves in support of the Port Moody Foundation.
In fact, the venture was so tasty that the development company boosted its offer from $1 to $3 from each sale, to give a total donation of $5,000 to the philanthropic group.
Foundation president Robert Simons said the money will go a long way in helping the city’s needs.
“Having corporate partners in our community who support our work ensures that we are able to continue helping nonprofit and charity organizations build livable and sustainable communities,” he wrote in a news release.
In the past, the Port Moody Foundation has granted cash to groups like Growing Chefs and the Community Ventures Society.
Since 1989, the foundation has doled out more than $1.4 million.
