Kitsilano pizza place closing after 16 years

Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. will continue on Main Street, though

Rocky Mountain Flatbread will soon be moving out of its Kitsilano location after 16 years of serving pizzas to the neighbourhood.

The pizza shop, which first launched in , announced last week it's closing one of its two Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»locations, at 1876 West 1st Ave.

"Rocky Mountain Flatbread will close the doors of its Kitsilano restaurant on May 29 after serving the Kitsilano community for 16 wonderful years," says Suzanne and Dominic Fielden in a press release. "During those 16 years we have literally made and served over a million pizzas from ingredients sourced from over 50 local farmers, donated thousands of meals to worthy causes, launched a brilliant frozen pizza brand and taught over 75,000 kids how to make their favourite pizza."

Before they close they're holding one more fundraiser.

"As part of the closing of the Kits location, we are running a fundraiser for our non-profit EarthBites school garden program as there are about 1,000 frozen pizzas available for pick up. The suggested donation is $5 per pizza," they say.

While the original Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»location is closing, their other locations are staying open, including one other in Vancouver.

"Don’t be alarmed…we are keeping our cherished Main Street location in Vancouver, our franchised restaurants in Alberta and those amazing Rocky Mountain Flatbread frozen pizzas on the grocery shelves in Western Canada," state the owners.

Rocky Mountain Flatbread was recently purchased by Richmond-based holding company Premium Brands, according to a . They also own companies like Grimm's Fine Foods, Oberto and Bread Garden Express .
