Not ever in my wildest gluten free, dairy free, garlic free, celiac dreams did I ever think I would be able to eat a glorious Dutch Pannekoek. Well my prayers have been answered....
The Wooden shoe on Cambie St. has been serving up these gluten and dairy free Pannekoeks (Dutch pancake) for a little while now. The gluten/dairy free version is cooked in a special pan to avoid any cross contamination, and even comes in a different shape... SQUARE! I think square tastes way better than round for sure. The flavour is pretty much the same as a regular pannekoek from what I can remember and available with all the same toppings. Check out Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Slop ( http://www.vancouverslop.com/2009/02/dutch-wooden-shoe-cafe.html ) for the low down on their other delicious eats, then do yourself a favour and go try it out.... especially if you're allergic to wheat and dairy like myself.
As an added bonus I was joined in spirit by Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»'s own Suede Peterson and his friend Rob, immortalized on the wall at my table. Thanks for joining me for breakfast guys, it was great to see you as always.
