Rosette, a Gastown pub that advertised itself as the "only gay bar in town" quietly closed down.
The pub, located at 120 W Hastings St, opened up at the end of 2021 in the space in which the acclaimed Wildebeest once operated.
Rosette's tenancy in the space appears to have been short; while no announcement was made of its closure, their social media channels haven't been active since last summer and it appears it closed late in 2023.
Earlier this year, its business licence was cancelled due to Rosette having "gone out of business," according to City of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»records.
Rosette's closure mirrors its debut, which happened largely under the radar and without fanfare or PR. Before its later identity as a "gay bar," the restaurant was styled as a sophisticated supper destination with dishes like Duck Confit Tarte, Salmon Crudo, and Beef Tartare.
While Rosette closed on street level, the , which regularly has shows in the event space beneath the restaurant, is still going says Jon Gagnon, who runs . five days a week.
Some may remember Catch 122 operating out of the address as well. It was initially located next door at 122 W Hastings for several years, but the popular brunch spot shared space with Rosette for several months as a daytime pop-up before moving to its current location in North Vancouver.
