After making short work of tidying up the space at 2 Water St, Röosh opened in Gastown in October 2021, replacing longtime previous tenant Peckinpah.
However, the European-inspired and locally-focused restaurant recently closed down permanently, owners confirm with V.I.A by email.
Dormant on social media for the past few months, was put on the market and a sale of the business just completed, according to the owner. The restaurant's owner did not elaborate on what prompted the closure or when the restaurant's last day was.
"After countless hours of effort we made the difficult decision to close the business permanently," stated Röosh's owner.
Röosh began as a Swiss-themed restaurant, with a menu based on fondue and rosti, a shredded potato pancake. Ultimately, the concept evolved to put their B.C.-based beer and cocktail program at the forefront and to pivot the menu to approachable comfort food like burgers and wings.
No word yet on what business has taken up the vacated Röosh location, which happens to be in one of Vancouver's oldest buildings, the .
