One of the biggest take-aways from the COVID-19 crisis has been the resiliance of our small business owners. One of the hardest-hit sectors is the hospitality industry, with hundreds of thousands of employees out of work nationwide, locations shuttered temporarily or for good, and an ongoing struggle to stay connected to the guests they serve.
In Metro Vancouver, restaurant owners, managers, chefs, and staff are stepping up in inspired and brilliant ways. They are keeping customers fed - but also feeding frontline workers, peers in need, and food insecure populations. Our restaurant heroes have cooked up meal kits and bundles featuring prepared foods ready for your table or picnic, or with ingredients for you to prepare at home. Chefs have re-tooled menus to work for packing up. Small like-minded businesses have banded together in near-unprecedented ways. And they are showing up to work, ramping up their safety measures, and getting food on our tables.
There's some damn awesome stuff happening with Vancouver's incredible restaurants right now, and if you can, please support them. They won't all survive.
