Located about an hour away from downtown Vancouver, Langley is a bustling municipality with lots to offer - especially for those who build their excursions around terrific eats.

That means you can expect to find farm-fresh local products and an increasing array of independent restaurants. You can tuck into diner fare that's been pleasing crowds for decades, dig into fresh waffles loaded with just-picked berries, or sip cocktails while feasting on bold globally influenced eats.

Fair warning: If you order up at this 1940s no-frills roadside diner, you may not be able to eat anytime soon after. Known for their mile-high plates of scratch-made breakfast and lunch fare, Hilltop has been a local favourite for decades. You may have seen this tiny, quirky diner on TV (including on Food Network's You Gotta Eat Here), too. Dishing up the goods daily until 2:30 p.m., the massive menu runs the gamut from basic a.m. egg dishes to signature eats like their French Toast made with super-thick cinnamon swirl bread, a breakfast sammy with an Apple Fritter "bun," plus platters of sandwiches, burgers, and fries. Among Hilltop's epic eats are the Mountain (double) and Everest (triple) burgers, which redefine "whopper." If possible, you're urged to save room for pie; the diner is beloved for its famous slices.
