In 2017, was a parking lot. The late-night, cash only hot spot specializes in Nashville Hot Chicken, the food trend that has been heating up over the last couple of years.

Fast forward a few months and Dave's settled into a storefront, and then a couple of years later was opening additional locations in L.A., with plans to expand across California, and the nation. They currently operate five locations in Southern California.

Now Dave's horizons have leaped the border, with the restaurant announcing recently they have "inked a franchise agreement with Obelysk Foods Ltd., led by John Bitove, founder of the NBA Toronto Raptors, to open up 30 locations in Canada, focused initially on Ontario and British Columbia," .

Bitove credits a trip to L.A. and a visit to Dave's with his daughter for his desire to get on board and build the biz up north.

Dave's has a simple menu focused on hot chicken tenders sliders, which are offered in spice levels ranging from “No Spice” to “Reaper." The eatery also offers sides like a kale slaw, mac and cheese, and regular or cheese-topped fries.
In L.A., Dave's is ranked highly among peers like The Red Chickz, Hotville, and the well-known Howlin' Rays. Here in Vancouver, while some restaurants offer a hot chicken sandwich on the menu, head and shoulders above the crowd is the Downlow Chicken Shack, which specializes in the scorching indulgence.

No word yet from Toronto-based  on where the new franchises will launch specifically, though it seems likely Toronto and Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»are on the top of the wish list.
