Vancouver's spot for 'French Tacos' loaded with cheese and fries reveals big expansion plans

Closer to a burrito, French Tacos are flour tortillas loaded with meat, cheese, and fries

A Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»ghost kitchen concept is marking its first anniversary by making a big announcement: They're expanding.

opened in 2020, operating out of a commissary space in East Vancouver, serving up epic loaded French Tacos loaded with melty cheese and fries.

French natives Baptiste Petit and Samy El Jabri arrived in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»two years ago, hoping to chase some culinary dreams, and to turn locals onto what they say is a popular street food in their home country.

Also known as "Lyon Tacos," French Tacos are comprised of grilled flour tortillas enveloping hearty fillings of cheese, fries, and meat. The hefty rectangular packets are more closely aligned with burritos, but still carry the name "tacos." The fast-food rose to popularity in the early 2000s in France.

Brick'N'Cheese's French Tacos are indeed hearty bundles and come in a range of creative fillings.

On the menu is the "Farmer" brick, filled with chicken and nuggets, Mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, and honey mustard; the "Hot’N’Spicy" brick with two servings of extra lean ground beef, Cheddar cheese, Jalapeño, and Red Hot sauce; and their best-seller, the "Signature" brick stuffed with both extra lean ground beef, crispy chicken, Cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, pickles, and chipotle.

Past specials have included things like the very Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»"Fish & Chips" Brick, loaded with golden fried fish, cheese, and fries.

Having tested the goods out earlier this year, it's safe to say it could take some serious munchies or a bubble-buddy two-some to take one of these "bricks" down.

Now Brick'N'Cheese is launching a new special, the "Tikka Masala" brick, which was inspired by Vancouver's abundant Indian restaurants. This creation is a flour tortilla loaded with spiced chicken, Mozzarella, fried onions, and hints of curry powder, chili powder, ginger, and garlic.

In addition to growing its menu, Brick'N'Cheese is growing its business; in the works are plans to move from a "ghost kitchen" concept to a permanent brick-and-mortar location in the city. And, says Baptiste, they're thinking even bigger: “We are excited that our concept has been well-received in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and are working to expand into other major Canadian cities within the next few months.”

Brick'N'Cheese is available to order for pick-up or delivery via UberEats, DoorDash, and Skip the Dishes.
