After a seven-year run, Chinatown's is packing it in. The restaurant late Thursday night their last day will be Sunday, October 4.
"It’s been fun. After 7 years, a plethora of pretzels, life changing friendships and countless currywursts, this week will be our last," revealed the restaurant on Instagram.
"Thank you to all our staff over the years who literally helped build this little sausage shop and to the many friendly and supportive folks who came through the door. We love you all."
Bestie opened in June 2013, and is the venture of buds Clinton Mcdougall and Dane Brown, who brought their "friendly little sausage parlour" to Chinatown and drew raves for their hand-cut fries, brats, pretzel boards, and currywurst - a staple German street food.
It took a long time to get the German "bratwurst & beer" spot up and running; travel back in time to a pre-Bestie Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»of 2012 and see Mcdougall and Brown's as they worked to get the doors open, with the community's help.
In 2015, Mcdougall and Brown launched Sunday Cider, a cider business named as a nod to the day Bestie was typically closed. The is set up on the Sunshine Coast, where you can pick up their cider made with B.C. apples right from the source, or you can find the brand in local liquor stores.
To get your hands on Bestie's last plates of sausages and sauerkraut, visit the Chinatown shop at 105 E Pender St. They are open noon to 8 p.m. daily until they close their doors for good on Sunday.
