After over a year of transition, one of Vancouver's most treasured bakeries has finally reopened in its new location.
The Bon Ton, known originally as , is one of the oldest bakeries in the city.
After ceasing operations at 3150 W Broadway last spring, current owner Kam Dhamrait revealed the business would be moving to a new shop space at 2515 Alma St. Dhamrait has operated the Bon Ton for over 30 years.
Earlier this August, the Bon Ton quietly reopened, Dhamrait shared last week in an email to V.I.A.
"We are open Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and we are closed on Mondays," the owner said by email.
"Further, we are currently only taking orders via telephone and there will be various goods for purchase at our storefront. Online orders are currently halted and they will resume shortly."
The Bon Ton first opened in 1926 on Granville Street before eventually moving to the Kitsilano neighbourhood where it had been a go-to for pastries, cakes, and other artisan-style baked goods until it closed last year. The menu includes palmier cookies, coffee rings, eclairs, sausage rolls, and much more. The establishment is particularly known for its popular Diplomat Cake.
When the Bon Ton closed to relocate in April 2023, fans immediately took up the watch to find out when they could again enjoy the bakery's signature treats.
