You know when the mayor starts talking about upcoming filming in Vancouver, it's a big deal.
Hallmark TV-movies and CW shows film here all the time and you don't see Ken Sim tweeting about those. Sim called The Last of Us "one of the biggest productions ever filmed in Canada and one of the largest shows on television today," in a statement following news that the HBO drama would be moving filming from Calgary to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»for season two.
He didn't hide his enthusiasm, saying "we are incredibly excited to welcome The Last of Us to our city as they bring the production of their next season to Hollywood North." And neither did other Vancouverites who took to social media to joke about the show's future here.
Some locals appear to be at odds over whether or not they should stalk Pedro Pascal. With one person speculating that the filming will turn into a repeat of Twilight with fans staked out just off-set.
"Video magician" Tom Belding didn't predict The Last of Us filming in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»so much as manifest it with this TikTok showing off his special effects skills. In the video, titled 'The Last of Van,' Belding transforms city landmarks into a theoretical post-apocalyptic wasteland (including Science World and the Steam Clock). The Last of Us set designers may want to take notes.
The steam clock still works
