Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Mural Festival announces dates for live-concerts and mural walking tours

The festival will feature over 60 new murals in 11 Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­neighbourhoods!

The VMF pop-up patio is a sit-down, outdoor venue that will be located in Mount Pleasant on Main and 5th.

The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Mural Festival is back this summer with an absolutely jam-packed three weeks of art, music and food.

In addition to the previously announced , starting August 4 and running until August 22, the VMF will feature a wide range of programming designed to highlight local talent in a safe, welcoming space. Events include daily mural tours, free public talks and workshops, plus over 40 live shows ranging from live music to drag, burlesque, and even a few weekend brunches.

The festival aims to harness the power of public art to connect communities, celebrate diverse cultures, and serve as a catalyst to address socio-cultural issues facing the city. 

This year festival attendees can visit the VMF pop-up patio presented by Granville Island Brewing. The sit-down, outdoor venue will be located in Mount Pleasant on Main and 5th and will present over 40 live performances showcasing local artists from underrepresented communities. 

In addition to all the live and online events, a major highlight of the festival is exploring neighbourhoods to see the new murals come to life on giant “canvases” throughout the following locations:

  • Cambie Village
  • Downtown
  • Edgemont Village
  • Hogan’s Alley
  • Marpole
  • Mount Pleasant
  • Punjabi Market
  • River District
  • South Granville
  • Strathcona
  • West End

“The past year highlighted the importance of public space for individual wellness, community connection, and economic health. Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Mural Festival seeks to bring joy and inspiration to locals while creating vibrancy and support for local artists, communities and businesses,” reads a statement from the non-profit. 

As BC begins its restart, VMF has hinted the organization has already begun plans for the return of its street party in 2022. 

In the meantime though, locals are invited to reconnect and discover a world of inspiration, cultures and stories.
