The sun might be shining strong above Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»this weekend, but once it heads past the horizon on Tuesday night (July 9) it's time for one of the city's favourite free summer traditions: Free outdoor movies in Stanley Park.
This year's stellar line-up of family-friendly flicks kicks off with the fan-favourite Pixar classic Toy Story.
The 1995 animated film that launched a franchise follows the adventures of talkative toys Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) with an all-star cast of colourful companions.
Movie lovers will be flocking to the in Stanley Park on Tuesday nights from this week and all summer through August 27. Pack a picnic, blanket, and grab your pals and join in the fun of catching a film on the big screen. The screen is set up in the grassy area by the Second Beach Pool.
General admission for first-come, first-served lawn seating is free, however, there are some paid options to enhance your Summer Cinema experience. You can opt to purchase advance VIP tickets (limited quantities) via the event website for $20 per person.
You'll find pre-show fun and food for purchase from local trucks, plus fresh popcorn, and even a non-alcoholic bar.
The rest of the Summer Cinema schedule includes popular movies like Back to the Future (July 16), School of Rock (Aug. 6), and Twilight (Aug. 20).
As a fun bonus, the final film of the summer, screening on Aug. 27, is up to movie fans like you. Voting is open to choose the end-of-season Evo Summer Cinema show. Your options are Matilda, The Parent Trap, or The Princess Diaries. and is open through July 24.
