I saw quite a few things at the car free day on Main yesterday but probably the best thing I saw was SHARON JONES & THE DAP KINGS on a poster on one of the poles for this year's , Sunday, Aug. 9 @ Deer Lake Park. Out of current touring acts right now, Sharon Jones is one of the few that Ive missed when they came to town that and sickly regret missing out on (I was just told a few days earlier that apparently she played a free gig in the Jazz Fest at David Lam a few years back as well, if true, that would be one of the biggest misses eva). With one of the sicket horn sections around anywhere or any era (the DK's also played on Amy Winehouse's Back to Black and Mark Ronson's Version), I cant wait to rock this gig with all the middle aged folk at Deer Lake park come Aug. 9! Catching Smokey Robinson wont be too bad either (either act is worth more than the price of admission alone).
