Reality show fans in the Tri-Cities were treated to a local connection on a popular dating series this week.
90 Day Fiancé: The Single Life, a sequel of the original 90 Day Fiancé, began its third season of navigating people's search for true love.
The spin-off series recasts "favourites" from previous seasons that became single again when their relationship ended during or after the show.
The premiere episode on Monday night (Sept. 12) featured a Port Coquitlam man named Tony, who was revealed as a mystery man to a seasoned 90 Day celebrity.
His face was shown in a virtual date with Debbie Johnson, a Las Vegas woman who, according to , wants to "get out of the friend zone before she turns 70."
The two are introduced through a friend of Johnson's who lives in Canada; Tony is her landlord in Port Coquitlam.
Fans of the reality show are calling Tony and Debbie a "perfect match" given her track record on the show.
In fact, writer Jessica Almeida explained Tony isn't Debbie's "ideal man," but he's described as caring and easy going.
"She tends to go for men who are more 'heavy set,'" Almeida wrote.
"She also doesn't go for someone who has tattoos. But Tony is covered in them. So, she feels that the person you think you want to fall in love with is not always what you imagined."
During the date, Tony asks Debbie if he should visit Las Vegas and if she would be a tour guide.
She takes a liking to the idea, calling it "fantastic" and an opportunity to get to know each other.
Almeida added that Debbie feels the relationship is moving fast, but she's still "crazy about him."
Debbie has been a reoccurring character on the show due to the situation with her son, Colt, who has been reviewed by critics to have co-dependency issues that have seeped into his own relationships.
90 Day Fiancé: The Single Life airs on TLC every Monday at 5 p.m. PDT.
