You could win a pair of tickets to a Taylor Swift concert in Vancouver, a diamond ring or a trip to a WestJet destination next month — and support a local charity.
On Nov. 16, Crossroads Hospice Society celebrates its 30th at The Show Theatre at the Great Canadian Casino Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»in Coquitlam with an "All That Glitters" theme.
Hammond Jewellers in Maple Ridge is donating the 1.2-carat bling for the raffle, while the society will also raise funds through a live auction for two tickets to see Swift in Vancouver, and a meal by a local chef served by Port Moody Fire and Rescue (the Port Moody Firefighters Charitable Society is the gala presenting sponsor).
There will also be a silent auction at the event; the top prize is two tickets anywhere WestJet flies plus a Samsonite luggage set.
As well, guests will be served a buffet dinner and see entertainment from Bonnie Kilroe, who is known to pay tribute to many characters in her act, including Cher, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Madonna and Bette Midler.
Veronica Brown, Crossroads’ director of philanthropy, told the Tri-City News that attendees “should wear their sparkly evening wear” to match the gala theme.
The society, which serves the Tri-Cities, hopes to bring in more than $100,000 for the hospice operations and grief support services, said executive director Jackie Gorton.
“This gala is our most significant fundraising event of the year and it plays a crucial role in funding the compassionate end-of-life care and free grief support programs we offer to the Tri-Cities community,” Brown said.
“We rely on the generous support of our community to ensure these vital services continue. We cannot do it without your help.”
