Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»nightlife is getting a new place to party.
Opening on the first weekend of December, Elysium is bringing weekends of hip-hop and electronic music to the city.
The new nightclub "will be a place without prejudice, a place for people to be people, a place for everyone," outdoor music event organizer Sunwave tells Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³». Sunwave will be curating the club's weekly Saturday electronic music line-up.
Elysium is located on the top floor of a popular venue at 1240 Thurlow Street in Davie Village. A is taking place on Saturday (Dec. 3).
The nightclub will play hip-hop tunes on Friday nights and various electronic genres, including house, techno, and disco, on Saturday nights.
"We look to make Elysium a new home for local and international artists with carefully curated line ups every show," adds Sunwave, whom has headliners scheduled to perform at the nightclub until end of January 2023.
The has seen many bars and clubs over the years, including Oasis Ultra Lounge and Playhouse Nightclub, both now permanently closed, and bar and lounge Kiss & Tell which currently resides on the bottom floor.
Before the location became a hotspot for the city's nightlife, it was a barber shop (1949-1966), a shoe repair shop (1946-1971), a laundry service (1938-1948), a donut shop (1948-1971), and the Black Angus Restaurant (1972-1985), according to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Heritage Foundation.
