The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Public Library is lending out dogs and poetry at an event this September.

The canine library is coming back to Vancouver, giving locals a chance to read their favourite passages to pooches in the park.

The event, run by the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Public Library, lets people check out dogs to read to at Trout Lake Park on Saturday, Sept. 9. People can sessions with a dog and poetry of their choice.

"Poetry books from the VPL's collection will be available for you to choose from. There will also be a poetry workshop with the City of Vancouver's Poet Laureate,  during the event," says the .

The library's BilblioBike will be on hand to sign people up for library cards, as well.

"This event will take place rain or shine because it is Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­after all," says the library. "The pup lineup will be announced as soon as they calm down from all of the excitement."

Among the event's organizers are Paws 4 Stories, which is part of the St. John Ambulance .
