These are some of the performers lined up to entertain at Port Coquitlam’s — Party in the Square show, happening from noon to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 11.
The free concerts in the Terry Fox Hometown Square, south of the Port Coquitlam Community Centre, will follow the May Days kids bike race at 10 a.m. and the Rotary May Day Parade at 11 a.m. in downtown Port Coquitlam.
In a news release today, March 20, the city named the acts for Party in the Square:
Side One: an energetic dance band that plays weddings and corporate events
Annika and the Earthlings: a group covering classic rock party and country hits
Royal Oak: a pop–punk ensemble made up of Terry Fox Secondary graduates Austin Ledyard (lead vocals), Michael Kragelj (guitar) and Myles Philpott (drums)
Carmelina Cupo Trio: featuring Cupo on vocals, Dave Martone on guitar and Rob Blackburn on keyboards
The Coyotes: a young band from the Tri-Cities covering pop and rock songs
Royal Oak performs its new single "idgaf."
As well, members of the Golden Spike Can Can Dancers and Choral Connections will perform.
Last year’s 100th May Days drew thousands of revellers from around Metro Vancouver.
Meanwhile, the opening ceremony for the 101st festival starts at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2024, in the Jon Baillie Arena at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre.
To take part in the parade on May 11, 2024, apply through the by April 14. Food vendors and market vendors are also sought. The Tri-City News is a media sponsor.
