I was fortunate enough to take a bit of Japanese in high school and one of the things I remember learning about was the activity of 'hanami' or flower watching. Â It may sound kinda lame but for those who drink it's pretty much an excuse to drink in public, you set up shop under a tree with a makeshift picnic, and get loaded, it's a national passtime. Â Kinda like 4:20 at the art gallery but with cherry blossoms. Â Some of the spots are in more demand than a PNE parking spot, with people camping out early to sell them for a profit.
not sure if camping out on Rupert street would be quite the same......
