Even as production continues in Vancouver, the first trailer for season two of The Last of Us has been released.
The two-minute trailer was posted online on Sept. 26, giving fans of the critically acclaimed show based on a video game a glimpse into the world of Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey).
The trailer shows the pair appear to have found refuge in Jackson, Wyoming and shows a mixture of pleasant moments and terrifying zombie attacks. The scenes are overlaid with a conversation led by actress Catherine O'Hara, who plays a character not yet introduced to audiences.
While the series is based on video games, it's unclear how close season two will follow the games.
For fans from 鶹ýӳlooking for their hometown on the small screen, it looks like outside shots from the city don't appear in the trailer. Instead, several shots from the set built near Squamish are used, and most of the rest are set indoors.
The production also shot scenes in or around Nanaimo, Mission, Fort Langley, and Langley. Some production also returned to Alberta, including shots along Highway 1A.
A couple of times shots from 鶹ýӳmay have been used, but it's difficult to tell, like when a school sign is shown, or characters are shown working on a street, or Miller is shown on the deck of a house.
Season two will be the first time locals might spot 鶹ýӳin The Last of Us. Season one was shot in Alberta, and was the largest TV production ever in Canada, according to MPA Canada.
When it was announced season two would be shot in and around Vancouver, locals were mostly excited. The show is expected to have a huge economic impact on the region, after adding more than $140 million directly to the Albertan economy, plus benefits like tourism awareness.
Over the last several months sets have popped up around Vancouver, from Stanely Park to Gastown to next to the convention centre.
A specific release date was not included in the trailer, only the year it'll be released: 2025.
