A fundraiser to be held in Burnaby and Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»this month will help support people with Down Syndrome.
"Willie's Corner," a group created in 2014 to celebrate Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Whitecaps winger Willie Johnston's legacy, is hosting a 20 FOR 20 fundraiser to help people with Down syndrome.
The run, according to a news release, is described to be "the corner's" biggest fundraiser, with four locations and five laps in each — 20 in total.
The fundraiser will take place over four Saturdays in September; and the corner's founder, Barry Walker will be joining the attendees in the four Whitecaps' homes: Empire Field (Vancouver), Swangard Stadium (Burnaby) and BC Place (Vancouver).
The first run will kick off at Empire Field (2901 E Hastings St.) on Saturday, Sept. 9 at noon followed by Swangard Stadium (6100 Boundary Rd.) on Sept. 16, Down Syndrome Resource Foundation (1409 Sperling Ave.) on Sept. 23 and final pre-game run at BC Place (777 Pacific Blvd.) on Sept. 30.
Walker is encouraging everyone to participate and donate to the cause: supporting the work of DSRF, headquartered in Burnaby.
