Jokers Canada is returning to the Tri-Cities with a trio of shows this and next month.
And, as with the past local events, it’s got a different set of stand-up comedians — plus some favourite repeats — gracing the stage on each of the three nights.
“We’re really excited to be back,” founder and comedian Aaron Arya told the Tri-City News today, June 14, from Medicine Hat.
“We’ve got strong lineups each night.”
Arya, a Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»resident who started Jokers Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic to lift the hard-hit hospitality industry, said, by luck, many well-known and sought-after comedians were available for gigs this summer as they were already booked for Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»shows or happen to be passing through the Lower Mainland.
As a result, his upcoming shows include acts that have appeared on film, television and radio programs such as Canada’s Got Talent, Just for Laughs and Sirius XM.
Still, while Jokers Canada doesn’t publish its full list of comedians before each event, it does reveal a few names in advance for ticket-holders on the Eventbrite website.
For the June 29 show at Port Coquitlam’s Terry Fox Theatre and the July 12 date at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam, Arya has invited, a Pinetree Secondary graduate and global touring headliner who’s appeared on Amazon Prime.
Arya said he’s pleased Jokers Canada is now expanding with a marketing team, which is not only creating merchandise but also partnering with surrounding venue businesses. In PoCo, Jokers Canada is cross-promoting with .
As well, in 2025, he’s looking at hosting events outside of the Lower Mainland, perhaps branching out to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Island, the Okanagan and Prairie provinces.
“We want to make more people laugh in more places,” he said. “That’s our goal.”
