The journey through begins at the train station.
The Syncra Subway Station is bathed in neon light and thumps with an EDM beat. Syncra Bot onboards guests and information booths, interactive video screens, and projections set the scene for what's to come.
It's all part of a new interactive music and art event that's touring North America, starting with Vancouver.
The cyberpunk cityscape is broken up into neighbourhoods (six rooms) that merge electronic music, digital art, and light projections for an immersive experience that is constantly changing so no two people have the same encounter.
On now until Feb. 26, a 7,000-square-foot space on Commercial Drive gives way to a marvel of 3D animation, technology, creativity, and entertainment.
The Frequency Bar is a choose-your-own adventure with booze. The funky space is full of lights and colours and the invitees can choose the mood to relax and enjoy their drinks in the city.
The mirror district is one of two connecting hallways that runs from one side of Syncra City to the other. The passage is full of light-encrusted infinity mirrors that create endless reflections. The other hall is a Pulse Alley light tunnel which changes and shifts as people walk.
The Arena is at the centre of the city and is being changed by people in the other neighbourhoods like Particle Park where guests can create colours to a rhythm using an interactive beat machine located in a rock wall. Or Sound Gardens, an interactive fountain in which buttons, knobs, and sliders change the effects of the music of the whole city.
Syncra uses Projection Mapping, Spatial Augmented Reality, and Complex Interactive Games technology to deliver the immersive visuals which resemble the vibe of Into the Spiderverse brought to life.
