HAVE IN MIND AT THE ANZA CLUB
*
On May 17th, a new monthly event will debut at the Anza Club, organized by a team of local figures in the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»arts community. Headed by Leigh Christie of eatART, Have In Mind is Vancouver's first monthly art event, with all proceeds going towards non-profit arts
organizations within the community.
Have In Mind features a rotating schedule of guest curators, artists, DJ's
and musicians, with all the proceeds going to a non-profit arts organization. Each month, the lineup is arranged and selected by a non-profit arts organization.
Hosted by Plank Gallery, the first Have In Mind will be curated by Zoe
Peled. The event features DJs Leigh Christie and Matthew Johnson. Installations by Zee Kesler and Lindsay Hamilton.
Lindsay Hamilton¹s installation takes as a starting point the idea of a
future apocalyptic moment in a North American city where, after centuries of abandonment, the culture of street signage is viewed by a new race of creatures. At this future moment, our civilization is being reconstructed, investigated, as others seek to understand the history
of the place through traffic markings. By obscuring the clarity of the sign
through playing with scale, hybridizing, manipulating, pairing and arranging different symbols, new ways of viewing the standard symbols becomes articulated.
The profits from this event will go to Plank Gallery and eatART.
