'Bigger and bolder': Vancouver's massively popular Greek festival marks 50 years this summer

One of Vancouver's liveliest neighbourhoods will be filled with the flavours of Greece this summer.

The largest one-day Greek festival in Metro Vancouver, , will take over a stretch of the Kitsilano street on June 23 in an annual celebration of all things Greek.

This year, the popular street festival marks its milestone 50th anniversary, and organizers say to celebrate, the event will be "bigger and bolder."

The festival is part of the many events taking place during . 

Festival-goers can partake in a variety of workshops and activities, from learning traditional Greek dance, ceramics, and pottery, to marvelling at cooking demonstrations of Mediterranean dishes. 

The celebration will also offer an assortment of entertainment, live music, market vendors, and Greek food and drink, from souvlaki and dolmades to moussaka and baklava. 

"Whether you’re reconnecting with your roots or experiencing Greek culture for the first time, there’s something for everyone at Greek Day on Broadway," describe organizers.

The festival is presented by the Hellenic Canadian Congress of BC and will take place in the heart of Vancouver's Greektown, an area in the Kitsilano neighbourhood that was historically an enclave of Greek immigrants and their descendants. 

When: Sunday, June 23 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
