A band that bills itself as “Canada’s Authentic Fleetwood Mac Tribute Show” is back in Port Moody next month.
Fleetwood Magic, featuring Diane Warren on lead vocals to portray Stevie Nicks, will perform at the Inlet Theatre (100 Newport Dr.) on Sunday, Oct. 20.
And joining her on stage will be:
- Mike Luniw as Lindsey Buckingham
- on vocals and guitar
- Zoey Leven as Christine McVie
- on vocals and keyboard
- Dave Kalancha as John McVie
- on bass guitar
- Curtis Michael Leippi as Mick Fleetwood
- on drums
- Steve Bush
- on keyboard
Warren told the Tri-City News the group is eager to return to Port Moody following its sold-out event last September to cover Fleetwood Mac’s classics from its 1970s and ‘80s albums: White Album, Rumours, Mirage, Tusk, Tango in the Night and Then Play On.
“We’re more polished than a few years ago,” she said in a phone interview today, Sept. 18. “This will be our third time in Port Moody and our band is really jelling well together.”
What separates from other Fleetwood Mac tribute acts, she said, is that it stays true to the musical group’s look, style and sound.
Warren said she recently saw a concert paying homage to Fleetwood Mac, “but it was really laid back. I’ve done my research with so many Fleetwood Mac tribute bands around the world and I think we’re probably in the Top 5 for matching Fleetwood Mac’s quality and trying to replicate their act. I think we’ve really got it down.”
But the performance, she stressed, will be 100 per cent Fleetwood Mac music — that is, not from Stevie Nicks’ solo albums, after the ensemble first split.
Warren said the band will have an updated slideshow of images from Fleetwood Mac’s hey days, a revised set list and “a big surprise at the end of the show” for the audience.
The Grammy award-winning group sold more than 120 million records worldwide and, in 1979, it received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for its contributions to the music industry. Two decades later, the American group was inducted into the U.S. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
