John Lydon, AKA "Johnny Rotten" the frontman of the Sex Pistols, titled his memoir Rotten: No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs, a reference to anti-Irish and racist sentiment that was prevalent in post-war Britain.
Signs were posted on the doors of venues forbidding people from Black and Irish communities from entering. "No dogs" was just an insult added to injury.
Vancouver-based Irish comedian Amy Walsh is hosting a comedy show at The MOTN on May 20 that subverts the historic convention and celebrates Irish and Black performers while also welcoming dogs.
The dog-friendly comedy show called 'More Irish, More Black, More Dogs', will be headlined by Ola Dada, semi-finalist of Canada's Got Talent and performer for CBC Gem's "The New Wave of Standup" and will feature other local comedians from Vancouver.
The 19+ show will also have a dog performer for the entertainment of our furry friends.
