We turn to the usual suspects when it comes to telling time and date: watches, cellphones, microwave and oven screens, computers, clocks and asking strangers on the street when we have access to none of the above.
I was relaxing on a friend's patio late last week (she lives right at the corner of Abbott and Pacific in the Firenze building), where I happened to notice the roof of Tinseltown's building has a giant, silver sundial on it. Who knew?!Â
Mankind has gone on to use other, more instantaneous methods of date and time-telling, but one thing's for certain: those ancient Chinese and Egyptians sure were smart people.
