The Canadian women's national soccer team will play an international friendly in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»this week.
On Friday, April 4, the red and white will face Argentina at BC Place. It'll be the first match on Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»turf since Christine Sinclair's retirement send-off in December 2023.
It'll also mark a homecoming for Vancouver's Julia Grosso, who currently plays for Chicago Stars FC in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).
The 24-year-old midfielder last played for Canada in February, scoring one goal in two matches during the Pinatar Cup in Spain.
Grosso is known for scoring the gold medal-winning shootout goal for Canada at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. She's scored four goals in 70 international matches since 2017.
A win against Argentina on Friday could help Canada's quest for a higher seed at the 2027 Women's World Cup.
To date, the Canadians are seventh in the . Argentina is ranked 33rd.
Here's what you need to know if you're planning on going to the 7:30 p.m. game. The gates open at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are still available, and there is only lower-bowl seating. BC Place is not expected to open the upper bowl for the friendly.
Prices start as low as $30 for goal-zone seating; the best seats available, per Ticketmaster, are in the Club Section at roughly $82 a pop.
Transit and parking
TransLink has yet to announce any transit tips or alerts for the event.
The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Warriors professional lacrosse team is playing a game across the way at Rogers Arena at 7 p.m. against the Albany FireWolves.
There are 20 parking garages and lots within walking distance of BC Place, according to , ranging from $10 to $30 during events.
"There is limited accessible parking," the stadium's website reads, "however, there is a dedicated accessible drop-off located at street level on Pacific Boulevard under Gate F for guests using mobility devices."
Inside BC Place
BC Place is a cashless venue, which means all food, drinks, and merchandise bought once you're inside the stadium will need a credit or debit card for purchases.
If you do have physical money, you can load it onto a card at the Cash to Card kiosk on Level 2 in Section 235.
Along with common sense items (as in, don't bring weapons, fireworks or illegal drugs), BC Place also prohibits vuvuzelas and cowbells from Canada Soccer matches.
Other noise makers "must be used in a manner that respects the comfort and enjoyment of all guests," the stadium stated. Drums, subject to search upon entry, must fit within the guest’s lap.
There are also no drones, laser pointers, balloons, or signs of a political or religious nature.
BC Place has a strict and encourages people to not bring bags of any type unless it is a:
- Clutch purse or belt bag no larger than 6.5 by 8.5 inches
- Clear plastic bags (including clear plastic freezer bags) no larger than 12 by 12 by 6 inches
A bag check is available for $10 per piece. Diaper bags and medically necessary items that cannot fit into a clear bag may be accepted.
