Flowers have taken over downtown but don't worry, it's nothing like Little Shop of Horrors.
Called , this floral event takes anyone willing to walk a few blocks around the city's core, from the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Art Gallery, down Robson Street, to the waterfront and back.
Along the way, more than 50 displays are set up. Many are mannequins dressed in outfits made entirely of blooms, while others are different versions of wreaths, often in the shape of a heart. There's a huge variety of displays, though, with pillars covered in foliage and flowers, butterflies created from petals and plants cascading down steps.
Other highlights include classic cars busting with flowers, dogs made of blooms, a massive pyramid at Jack Poole Plaza, a heart gateway at the art gallery, a phone booth topped with flowers and a bear carving wearing a hat. Some of the displays work in the pink ribbon, which represents breast cancer awareness and research, which is a cause the event is supporting.
The 'Floral Trail' takes over an hour to traverse. It's a free, self-guided tour with most displays out on the street, though some are in private businesses, like Pacific Centre and the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
The pop-up installations are only around until June 20, as the flowers are real.
