West Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»native Harry Jones will lead Canada into battle as the captain of the national men’s team at the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament running July 20-22 at San Francisco’s AT&T Park.
The 28-year-old recently scored his 100th try on the World Rugby Sevens Series and has been sharing the captaincy since John Moonlight retired earlier this year. Jones played in the last Rugby World Cup Sevens, in 2013 in Russia, where Canada missed the Cup playoffs but finished the tournament with a stellar 5-1 record to win the Plate final.
This year’s tournament, which will feature 24 men’s teams and 16 women’s teams, will feature a new knock-out format – the winner will be the last team standing with no losses.
The Canadian men will kick off their tournament Friday at 1:23 p.m. against Papua New Guinea with the winner moving on to the round of 16.Â
