Nets unlike any other will drop into the water near Kitsilano Beach this weekend.

In a Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»first, competitive water polo will be played in the open ocean by former collegiate and national team athletes.

The 10-team tournament is the latest addition to the ever-expanding summer sports and lifestyle carnival, KitsFest, which caps off the first day Friday with free yoga hosted on the sand by Lululemon. This beach session is typically massive as hundreds come out to pose in the near-dark.

The festival includes three-on-three basketball, co-ed beach volleyball and tennis tournaments as well as group exercise classes for spinning and Zumba. The water polo details are still in the works.
