In senior girls volleyball, three Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»teams are through to the provincial championships and the tally could climb to four after this weekend.
In AA, St. Patricks finished second and Notre Dame third at the Lower Mainland tournament while West Point Grey Academy will play a wildcard tournament to qualify for the B.C. title tournament in Lake Country, in the North Okanagan, Dec. 3 to 5.
In AAAA, after nabbing gold in the senior girls volleyball city champions, the Churchill Bulldogs added a bronze from the Lower Mainland tournament and with it, they claimed the third regional berth to the B.C. Championships in Nanaimo Dec. 2 to 5.
The Bulldogs faced the No. 1 AAAA team in B.C., the Handsworth Royals, in the semi-final Saturday morning at Handsworth. Against the North Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»city champions, Churchill won the first set, but couldn’t hold off the Royals who stormed back to take the next three and win the game 3-1.
After the loss, the Bulldogs faced Burnaby’s Moscrop Panthers in a do-or-die game that would either advance them to provincials or end their season. The Dogs won in straight sets. West Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»took the silver medal.Ìý

AAA Senior Boys
The draws have been set for the 36-team senior boys AAA B.C. Championships, held at the Langley Events Centre Dec. 2 to 5.
City champions Van Tech are in a pool with Fraser Valley regional champion Walnut Grove, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Island runners up Oak Bay and Fraser Heights.
David Thompson competes against two-time provincial champion Earl Marriott, Surrey Christian and the wildcard from Penticton.
