The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Canadians started a three-game home-stand five games behind visiting Everett AquaSox on Friday.
The series had the makings of being one of the most exciting — and crucial — of the C’s season, but before it even started they’d been eliminated from reaching the playoffs.Â
In the last five games, the numbers came down to this: if Everett won one and the C’s lost one, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»was eliminated. In the end, Everett won only one of their last five and the C’s dropped two, both on the road to the TriCity Dust Devils. It marked the first time in five years the C’s didn’t advance to the post-season.
The summer still ended on a high. Over three games at Nat Bailey Stadium, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»drubbed Everett. Putting up crooked numbers like their major league brethren in Toronto, the Canadians shut out the AquaSox twice and combined for an overall 29-5 score. They won 12-5 Friday, 6-0 Saturday and 11-0 Sunday.
On Sept. 6 for the final game of the 2015 season, the single-A baseball club announced its 22nd sellout of the summer and a franchise attendance record of 215,535. C’s fans had roughly 900 more seats to choose from at Nat Bailey Stadium this season since the Blue Jays affiliate introduced bleachers in left field.Â
With 18 wins and 20 losses in the second half of the season, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»finished two games behind Everett (20-18). The output marked an improvement on their 16-22 first-half performance, which was good for last in the North Division.
The AquaSox now play the Dust Devils for the pennant. The Seattle Mariners affiliate in Everett and the San Diego Padres affiliate in Pasco, Wash. put up identical records over both halves of the season going 22-16 and then 20-18.
The playoff series started Tuesday with TriCity hosting at Gesa Stadium.
