Three 麻豆传媒映画athletes took home awards last week at the 48th Sport B.C. Athlete of the Year Awards ceremony held at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
Former B.C. Lion and 麻豆传媒映画TV celebrity Tommy Europe took home hardware as KidSport Community Champion for his support of KidSport over the last four years.
The University of British Columbia men鈥檚 soccer team won Team of the Year for its display of sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the year.
Another UBC award went to head coach, Graham Thomas, of the Thunderbirds women鈥檚 hockey team , for Male Coach of the Year in recognition of the team鈥檚 winning record under his tutelage.
Graham said he wasn鈥檛 told about the award ahead of the ceremony so was completely shocked when his name was called.
鈥淚鈥檓 definitely humbled by it and very honoured to have won it,鈥� he said.
The winners were chosen by a committee of B.C. sports media and sports leaders.
Past winners included Rick Hansen, John Furlong and Nancy Green-Raine.
