North Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»resident Natasha Wodak won the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Sun Run on Sunday, becoming the second woman in the 35-year history of the event to claim three victories.
The 37-year-old led from start to finish to win the 10-kilometre elite women’s race in a time of 32 minutes and 38 seconds. Wodak finished eight seconds ahead of runner-up Kinsey Middleton and 21 seconds ahead of third-place finisher Malindi Elmore.
Wodak, racing under her then-married name Natasha Fraser, won back-to-back Sun Runs in 2012 and 2013. The only other woman to win three times is Lynn Kanuka, who won three in a row starting in 1987 racing under her then-married name Lynn Williams. Kanuka is now Wodak’s coach.
Wodak was recently named female athlete of the year at the North Shore Sport Awards following a stellar 2018 season that was capped by a fifth-place finish in the 10,000-m race at the Commonwealth Games. For more on Wodak, see . Â
