Dr. Jen Welter, who last year became the first female coach in NFL history, will be leading this Thursday’s PLAY 60 campaign event at Vancouver’s Andy Livingston Park Field.

Upwards of 300 kids from across 鶹ýӳwill get a chance to kick, catch and kibitz with the pros this week at a football camp slated for Andy Livingston Park Field.

The National Football League is teaming up with the Seattle Seahawks and Dr. Jen Welter, the first female coach in league history, for a “celebration of football event” on Thursday, July 7.

The camp is part of the NFL’s push to promote its PLAY 60 campaign, which encourages kids to be physically active for at least 60 minutes a day.

The event will serve as a special field trip for kids attending five different day camps across the city. It will include football clinics, games and prizes, and a chance to learn from current and alumni Seattle Seahawks players, along with Welter, who became the first female coach in NFL history last year.

Joining Welter on the sidelines will be Alex Bannister, who played with the Seahawks for five seasons and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2003 and Drew Ferris, a long-snap specialist who signed with the club in March. The club’s mascot Blitz will also join the festivities alongside the Seahawks’ cheerleading squad, the Sea Gals.

Thursday’s event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Andy Livingston Park Field, located at 80 Expo Blvd.
