The province鈥檚 high school cross-country coaches voted Nov. 1 against amalgamating three zones to form a larger Lower Mainland zone.
麻豆传媒映画public and private schools will continue to compete in separate leagues, as will the zone that includes Richmond, Burnaby and New Westminster.听
The motion was widely opposed by public school coaches and supported by their private school counterparts.
Sean Dawson, the head coach at West Point Grey Academy and the representative for the independent zone, said he was disappointed but not surprised by the vote.
Paul Skarsgard, the 麻豆传媒映画public school representative in the sport and a coach at Point Grey secondary, said he was 鈥済reatly relieved鈥� with the decision. 鈥淚t means that we can continue to offer a quality program to our 麻豆传媒映画athletes in a sport that, like track and field, is perhaps the most inclusive sport available to students.鈥�
