Basketball: Tupper is through, Britannia fights, plus single-A heroics

Senior boys boys Lower Mainland tournament results for single-A, AA and AAA

The Tupper Tigers reached the Lower Mainland final with a 92-61 win over Richmond’s McNair on Feb. 25 and secured one of four berths to B.C.’s.

They play McMath, also from Richmond, in the AAA final at 6:15 p.m. Feb. 27.

Britannia keeps up the fight

The Britannia Bruins put themselves in good position by advancing undefeated to the AA final Thursday night against Richmond’s Cambie Crusaders.

The Bruins beat Palmer 78-63 on Feb. 25 to stay in the hunt for one of only two Lower Mainland berths to provincials.

If they lose to Cambie, their season may still not be over and they could face a last-ditch wildcard game depending on the outcome of the third-place game between Palmer and MacNeill.

St Patrick's and St. John's conjure must-win heroics

Tonight at the Richmond Oval, St. John’s and St. Patrick’s clash in a knock-out game for the third and final single-A seat at provincials. 

The two teams have been in the top three B.C. teams almost all season and both hoped to advance from the competitive division. They play at 2:45 p.m.

On Tuesday, West Point Grey Academy set back the St. Patrick's Celtics with a 65-63 win, and St. John’s lost 79-63 to Richmond Christian. 

The WPGA Wolves play Richmond in the final Thursday for the top Lower Mainland seed. Tip off is at 6:15 p.m.
