Basketball: Season ends for King George, onward for St. Pat's

The St. Patrick's Celtics went through two of Richmond's best to win the the senior boys basketball AA Lower Mainalnd title this week at the Richmond Oval.

Starting with the Palmer Griffins, the Celtics held off the former B.C. Champions by a single bucket, knocking them off 77-75 in a semi-final Tuesday night.Ìý

In the regional championship match Thursday night at the Oval, the Celtics dispatched the defending regional champion Cambie Crusaders 70-66.

The tournament marked the end of the road for , King George Dragons. They lost 73-63 to the Crusaders in the second Tuesday semi-final.Ìý

Both Cambie and St. Patrick's will represent the Lower Mainland at the AA Provincial Championship March 9 to 12 at the Langley Events Centre.
