West End residential tower proposal goes to Development Permit Board Oct. 15

Project includes stand-alone six-storey building with affordable housing rental units

The development permit application envisions a 21-storey market residential tower and and a six-storey social housing building on the site at 1485 Davie St. Rendering by W.T. Leung Architects.

An application for a 21-storey tower with 128 market condo units at 1485 Davie St., which includes a proposal for a stand-alone six-storey building with 51 affordable housing rental units at the east end of the site, Oct. 15.

Vivagrand Developments, W.T. Leung Architects and ETA Landscape Architecture are involved in the project.

The site sits between Nicola and Broughton streets in the West End.

The would replace an existing apartment building with 51 rental units, so it would be a one-to-one replacement of those apartments.

W.T. Leung Architects is the architecture firm involved in the project.

Market units would include 47 one-bedrooms, 71 two-bedrooms and 10 three-bedrooms.

Affordable housing units would include 13 studios, 14 one-bedrooms, 14 two-bedrooms and 10 three-bedrooms.

The project also includes four levels of underground parking with 211 parking spaces.

Under the property’s existing RM-5D zoning, the application is conditional so it requires a decision by the Development Permit Board.

The meeting starts at 3 p.m., Oct. 15, at city hall.
