Since September 2015, Courier photographer Dan Toulgoet has climbed a stepladder up through a narrow trapdoor to the roof of a building in Mount Pleasant more than 50 times.

Why?

To document the construction of the controversial 21-storey Independent building and its growing presence in the neighbourhood.
